

Norman Raymond Sketers passed away December 24th, 2024, at the age of 89. He was a resident of Harvest, Alabama. Norman was born on a farm in Parsons, Kansas, on October 23, 1935. His parents were Raymond and Dorothy Sketers. They settled in California in the late 1940’s. Norm graduated from San Leandro High School in 1953 in California.
He enlisted in the Air Force in February 1954. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 where he was awarded the Soldier's Medal for Heroism. He was discharged from the Air Force and enlisted in the Army in 1969. He retired from the Army in 1974. He was employed by the US Army Missile Command and then retired again to civilian life in Madison, Alabama, and later to Harvest, Alabama.
He is a member of Madison Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Madison, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Setsuko Sketers, his son Joel Sketers (Gail) of Trussville, Alabama, his son, Michael Sketers (Vicky) of Castle Rock, Colorado, and his daughter, Suzanne Sketers Sloan (Mike) of Madison, Alabama, and his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren with two on the way.
You may visit with the family on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm in Valhalla's Celebration Chapel. Military and Masonic Honors will take place immediately after services at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
