

Mrs. Shanell Alexander Bone, affectionately known to many as “Nell” was born on July 13, 1955 in Gurley, Alabama. The daughter of Fred Alexander and Madgie Robinson Alexander, she departed this life on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Shanell, a longtime resident of Madison County, Alabama, was known for her kindness, quick wit, warm smile, infectious laugh, humble spirit and servant heart. As a Christian, she faithfully served at Hurricane Chapel MB Church and New Jerusalem MB Church. In April 2025, Shanell was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer. While not a candidate for treatment, her care plan was comfort. As such, her family moved her to Diversicare of Big Springs in Huntsville, Alabama to ensure she was close enough for family, friends and loved ones to be by her side as she walked her journey. Through it all, she never complained and always maintained her warm smile, infectious laugh, love for family and her belief in God.
Shanell is preceded in death by her father: Fred Alexander, mother: Madgie Robinson Alexander, sisters: Tera Alexander Lee, Nancy Alexander Jones and JoAnn Alexander Clay, brother: Fred Alexander Jr., James Alexander, Marvin (Sonny) Alexander. She is survived by her son: Cary (Avitra) Bone; daughter: Carmen (Camino) Everson; brothers: Willie Alexander & Jeffrey Alexander; sister: Lorinne Alexander Jordan grandsons: Andre Bone, Adrian Bone, Zachary Bone, Cameron Everson, Aiden Everson, Christian Everson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours for Shanell will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811.
Homegoing service for Shanell will be Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, Celebration Chapel. Shanell will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
