Sonjia was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, her mother and father Charlie and Carrie Hunt Mayes. She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Gash and Tina Anderson, and her grandson Chase Gash.
Sonjia grew up in a large family as the youngest of 10 children, all of which has passed except her loving sister, Joyce Carter of Huntsville, Alabama.
Sonjia devoted much of her life to church, bible study and worship. She never hesitated to say a prayer for others and always had a song on her heart to share. She truly looked forward to spending eternity with the Lord and wanted others to know Jesus and join her there some day.
A visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, located at 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 pm.
