Mr. William "Andy" Andrew Duke

WILLIAM ANDREW DUKE October 28, 1944 – August 18, 2014 William “Andy” Duke passed away Monday morning, August 18, 2014 at Crestwood Medical Center. Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Andrew Duke and Nell Winters Duke; and by his loving wife of close to fifty years, Mary Countess Duke. Andy was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1944. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1962. In 1965 he moved with his parents to Huntsville, Alabama. He married the love of his life, Mary Beatrice Countess, on December 29, 1968, at Meridianville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. This union lasted close to fifty years. Andy worked at Sanmina-SCI, and then Chrysler Huntsville Electronics, until his retirement. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and spending time with family. In the last years of their life together, Andy was also a devoted caregiver to wife Mary. Andy is survived by his daughter, Andrea “Missy” Duke Rutherford and son-in-law, Paul; grandchildren Hollye and Heath Rutherford; sister, Patsy Brock; brother, Jimmy Duke and wife Carolyn; and a host of nieces and nephews. You may visit with the family at Valhalla Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, 2014, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 Noon. There will be a funeral service in Valhalla’s chapel conducted by Bro.
