

Charles Joel Allen Meisinger, age 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Charles was born in Missoula, Montana to Jeanette Bendickson Therene and Charles J. Meisinger.
Charles had many interests, loved his family and was described as fun, friendly and a good storyteller. He was also a proud south paw.
During high school in Missoula, the football team nicknamed Charles the Mouse and he was also in the chess club. He graduated from Missoula County High School in Missoula in 1963.
Charles met his wife Jackie in Missoula when she was his dying fathers nurse. He followed her back home to Indiana and they were married on Feb. 3rd 1968 in the nursing home she worked at. They had 3 children and they were together until her passing in 2004.
Charles had a special interest in linguistics and culture. He spoke some German and Norwegian, had an understanding of Greek and Latin. He was interested in where people came from and their ancestry. He could often accurately guess where someone was from by their accent. He enjoyed trying foods from all over the world.
He also enjoyed music from all over the world, but especially liked polkas and he played the accordion.
Charles had a soft spot for dogs and loved his dog Jak. He insisted on always having a dog as part of the family.
Charles was a fan of many different sports but favored winter sports. He followed the Iditarod race every year. In his younger years he was adventurous and loved taking his children and grandson sledding.
Charles served in the US. Navy and was stationed in Cyprus. His specialty was Morse Code.
Charles had a long career with and retired from the United Parcel Service and was awarded 28 years of safe driving. His delivery route was in New Palestine for many years.
Charles is survived by his son Charles Scott Meisinger; his son Mark Meisinger; and his daughter Amber Rene Allen; his brother Eugene, his sister Yvonne, his brother Richard and his brother Dennis; his grandson Michael Sparks (Amber Desarae) and his granddaughter Kayla Mancourt. He is also survived by great grandchildren Ellery and Maison Sparks with Olivia Sparks coming soon.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Jackie Rose Meisinger; his father Charles Meisinger and his mother Jeanette Therene; his brother Don and his sister JoAnn, and an infant brother.
A visitation for Charles will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bedford Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1700 N Pike Rd, Bedford, IN 47421, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery in Bedford, IN
