Obituary of Enid Patricia Scott
Enid Patricia “Pat” Scott, 96, of Indianapolis, departed this life Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Pat was born July 16, 1923 in Berea, Ohio to the late Edmund Isaac and Pauline Harriett “Peggy” (Mattoon) Clough. Pat attended Shortridge High School and graduated from high school in Toledo, Ohio and later attended the John Herron Art School where she met her husband to be, John Scott. Pat was an accomplished dancer and in her early adult life taught ballet and other forms of dance. She was a trained artist and enjoyed taking art classes into her late 70’s by attending sketch classes at Herron. She loved knitting, sewing, cooking, music, art, and poetry and had a passion for reading a good book. As with many readers, she loved the feel and smell of a treasured old book but had transitioned to the digital age and devoured books on her kindle as well. She was a dedicated wife and mother of three. She worked full time as a commercial artist for the Topics Newspapers for many years, retiring at the age of 72. She also did private design work for her church and others. Pat loved to travel and took several international trips with her husband but none were as special as the one to her father’s birthplace, Faversham in Kent, England. Pat was a kind and gentle soul who appreciated making memories, especially with her family. Pat was happiest though in a comfortable chair with a good book or knitting needles and yarn in her hands. Pat attended Trinity Episcopal Church for over thirty years and then attended Good Shepherd Anglican Church both in Indianapolis. Pat was preceded in death by her dear husband of 52 years, John E. Scott, Jr., and her beloved granddaughter, Melissa Kazimier. Pat is survived by her three loving children, Becky (Julian Christopher) Kazimier, Beth (Jeffrey) Hamilton and John (Vicki) Scott; three grandchildren, Ted Scott, Sarah Hamilton, and Chris Kazimier, and four great-grandchildren, Garion Phorr, Aviendha Burgoyne, Krisanna Burgoyne, Katie Crisp, Lindsey and Noah Graveside services for Pat will be at Union Chapel Cemetery (8301 Union Chapel Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46240) on Monday, February 24th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions may be directed in her name to: Indianapolis Public Library. Online condolences are available at: www.leppertmortuary.com
