85, of Carmel, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in Westfield, Indiana. He was born on September 4, 1939 in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary to the late Janos & Erzsebet (nee Nagy) Molnar. At the age of 15, Frank was a wanted member of the Hungarian Revolution, opponents to the Soviets puppet government, The Hungarian Peoples’ Republic. On a cold and rainy day he slipped under barbed wire at the Austrian border and began his journey to the United States.
As a political refugee, Frank sought help from Catholic Charities and soon immigrated to the United States. Through Catholic Charities, he was sponsored by a retired Naval Captain in New Jersey.
Frank earned his undergraduate degree at Saint Louis University and then his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. Dedicated to his occupation and supporting his family, Frank didn’t retire until he was 68 years old. He continued as a consultant and mentor in the industry beyond his retirement.
Frank was a kind, gentle, and humble soul who put his faith and family first in life. He loved nature and animals of all sorts. Frank stayed fit by running mini marathons and daily walks with his dogs. All wild animals in his neighborhood knew with confidence that they could always find food and water at Frank’s house. When he moved to the Waterford Community, he quickly made many friends and enjoyed helping his neighbors with home maintenance projects and pet sitting.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters in Hungary, and his beloved West Highland Terrier, Katie.
Frank is survived by his devoted daughters Trish (Don) Biggs and Sharon (Dan) Melvin and their mother, Susan Molnar; grateful grandchildren Charlie Biggs and Tyler & Sara Eschenfelder; several nieces and nephews in Hungary, and a host of dear friends at Waterford
Visitation for Frank will begin at 1:30pm on Tuesday, August 19th at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel and conclude at time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30pm, Fr. Jim Farrell officiating. Private interment follows in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Frank’s name to Southside Animal Shelter or to Humane Society for Hamilton County.
