I remember decades ago when maturing George was getting into all the electronics and computer technology.  He came by our house one evening with a special phone receiver.  Then he went to our home telephone on the small wooden stand in a corner of the dining room.   He showed us how all of this connected together and what this could do.  Tha t was cool and already we were "computer literate."  Seriously he was introducig us kids and even my parentst to a  whole new worl.d.  Thank you, Cousin George

This is for my great  First Cousin George Meissner

1.  I remember when I was a little boy stuck in bed due to some disease like whopping cough or chicken pox.  George and his brothers brought me a gift.  I expected & very much would have enjoyed a toy.  Instead he gave me an Audibon book filled with brightly colored pictures of birds and explanations of each bird's life and habits.  I sat high in the bed & thumb thru the book, thinking what is this all about.  I did not fully understand then but George was granting me a pricelss gift I have always remembered.  Every morning now the birds wake me up and I am back in that child bed turning the thick pages of this hard cover Audibon book trying to figure out which bird is singing away.  Of course I feed the birds now and they eat anything and everything but lettuce and tomatos.  And I remember George.
          2.  Here's a second memory.  George was the best  educated of us in science.  He was always into the latest gadget which usually included something mathematical.  So he is at the house of my parents and he is showing us a modem.  This was a device to hook up a computer to the telephone  (That is the way I remember this.)  "Here it is easy," he is saying to us, as he plants the modem into the telephone receiver.
      3.    Then there is another memory.  Our parents and his parents were both brothers and sister.  My mom Nora was the sister of George's mother, Delia.  My Dad Charlie ws the brother of George's father who was also named George.    George Senior's three sons were all older than me and my brother.  They were  like 10 years older.  They had clothes like pants and shirts.  When they outgrew these, these were passed on to first me & I passed them to Robert, my brother.  We did not like this "hand me down" system, but the clothes were very nice & it was a sign of how everything in all the Meissner families got used again.  Nothing was wasted. I am so very grateful to George- a man of strength willing to share his tenderness with my mother.  A man with priorities- God, family, friends.  He cherished his family and bore his heartbreaking losses with God given grace.  He learned to live each moment in the present, relishing each day spent with his Evelyn.  If there was fun to be had, especially a grandchild to be held, he was all in.  I feel blessed that I was able to thank him for loving and caring for Mom- many times.  He made her so happy.  
I pray that he will continue to watch over her.
Our family prays for the consolation of his large and beautiful family.

I, and all in our family, are heartbroken over losing George. Mom said “he was the most kind, loving, and respectful man- it was hard not to adore him.”  We are so grateful they found each other 
and enjoyed their time together. Although it was for just a few years, they were very special years.  We shall miss him and will hold him close in our hearts.
