Obituary of Jay Conrad Cart
Jay Conrad Cart, 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana died after a brief illness on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was born on February 11, 1942 and was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Frank Cart, his sister Janet Glidden and his in-laws Lucy and Bill (Rehmsie) Rehm. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his daughter Kim (Scott) DeNardin, his son Jeff (Natalie Wolfe) Cart, his grandchildren Sarah (Austin) Olvey, Mark (Chelsea) DeNardin, Landess (Mark) Hutson, and Wilder Cart, his sister, Judith Glidden, and many cherished nieces and nephews and friends. Jay was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and attended Butler University where he was a Phi Delta Theta and studied Marketing. Jay spent the majority of his career in Group Health Insurance at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana, Tolley of America, and started his own company Benefit Plan Administrators, and was a CLU, Certified Life Underwriter. If you were with him he would always “tell you a little story”. He loved golf, skiing and boating. He particularly cherished the family memories on their summer cottage at Lake Lemon. He loved all sports, but was an avid IU fan. He was a Senior member of the “Table of Knowledge” with his dearest friends where he enjoyed an occasional Bud Light. Jay was described by friends and families as “a character who lit up the room with his laughter, who adored his family and brought hour after hour of joy.” “I always felt smarter, funnier and more alive in his presence and he made ordinary occasions into special occasions.” Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 20 at Leppert Mortuaries - Nora with visitation from 2-3 PM.
