John J. Berich

John Joseph Berich (Berlakovich) was called to be with our Heavenly Father on November 20, 2022. John was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on October 3, 1944 to Christine and John Berich. He grew up in South Bend, Indiana where he graduated from St. Joseph High School (Class of 1963) and Purdue University -Delta Tau Delta (Class of 1968). John met his wife of 48 years, Maria Pilar (Pili) Berich (Brieva Omella), in South Bend. John lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana prior to moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. John was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carmel, Indiana. John had a zest for life and was a friend to all.

He worked in sales his entire career and was a mentor to many. John loved sports, especially Purdue Boilermaker football, Cubs baseball and golf. In his later years, John was a doting “Yayo” to his grandchildren Amanda (29), Easton (23), Ethan (22), Addison (20), Xavier (20), Everly (8), Roman (8), Griffyn (6), Capri (5), Willamina (4), and Stellan (5 months). He spent his free time watching various sporting events involving his children and grandchildren.

John was preceded by his parents John J. and Christine Berich. John is survived by his wife; daughters Melissa (Clayton) Eads and Diana Berich Brieva; sons Richard (fiance - Renee Weizenegger) Berich and Brian (Meloney) Berich; brothers Ron (Helen) Berich and Kevin (Karen) Berich; and his sister Rebecca (Dan) Huber and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. John was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a friend to everyone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday November 28th at 11:00 am, the family will receive friends one hour before, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church 14598 Oak Ridge Rd, Carmel Indiana 46032. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to Humane Society for Hamilton County 10501 Hague Road, Fishers, Indiana 46038 in John’s honor, where John volunteered, or Riley’s Children’s Foundation PO Box 3356, Indianapolis, Indiana 46206-3356.
