

Born October 30, 1971 in Frederick, Maryland, she is the daughter of Joyce Ann Pekarek and Robert Sydney Pekarek.
Julia is a 1990 graduate of North Central High School and 1995 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in anthropology.
She married Amber Cox on August 15, 2015 at the Indiana Historical Society.
After college, Julia was a substitute teacher and bartender. This is where she honed her mixology skills. She then worked for Resorts Condominiums International (RCI). This explains her travel planning expertise. She then worked at Teleservices Direct for 12 years. Finally, she was employed at Cummins Corporate Office managing an account management team. She worked at Cummins for 12 years before retiring in 2022. She was sent off with “Best Boss Ever” memorabilia. After retirement, she volunteered at Paradigm Health visiting hospice patients.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking/entertaining, travel planning, sending random gifts to people when she thought of them, origami, swimming in all water, regardless of temperature, and spending time with those she loved.
In addition to her wife Amber Cox, she is survived by her parents Joyce Pekarek of Indianapolis and Robert Pekarek of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by her sister Lisa Seung & Steven Seung, niece Christina Seung, nephews David Seung and Michael Seung (all of Portland, Oregon) as well as her niece Savannah Cox, and nephew Brayden Cox of Connersville, Indiana.
She was preceded and death by her stepfather, John Murt as well as her grandparents, Edith Joyce & Edward "Milt" Larson, and Clara Julia & Albert Pekarek.
Celebration of life will be held at Leppert Mortuary in Nora on Sunday, May 25, 2025 2-4 PM. Time of remembrance will follow at 4 PM with Master of Ceremonies, Julie's uncle, Doug Larson. Julia’s eulogy will be given by her friend, Megan Wilson.
