92, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021. She was born August 16, 1928 in Indianapolis to the late John Oglesby and Elizabeth (Way) Haymaker. Midge was a graduate of Short Ridge High School and then went on to earn her degree in nursing from Indiana University in 1946. While at IU, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Her nursing career varied from prenatal care to an office nurse to the field of gerontology. Midge knew from an early age that she wanted to be a nurse. She worked diligently and dutifully to pursue her passion and faithfully served those in need.
She married Eugene E. Ervin in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2000. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, she attended Trinity Episcopal Church where she participated in many guilds, and ultimately became a Lay Eucharistic Visitor and a Stephen Minister. At the time of her death she was the longest standing member of the church.
Midge is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth “Lissa” Newland and Andrew (Katy) Ervin; her grandchildren, Danny (Courtney) Spence, Gus and Connie Ervin. A dear brother, Robert (Joanne) Haymaker and a host of other close family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May, 1st at Trinity Episcopal Church with calling there from 9:30-10:30am.
