Mary Catherine (Klee) Morrow, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born the second of four siblings to John A. and Catherine (Murphy) Klee on June 10, 1954. Mary was a graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and Bishop Chatard High School (1972), where she met the love of her life, Steve. Mary went on to become a registered nurse, graduating from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Mary began her nursing career working at St. Vincent Hospital, but once her children came along, she reduced her hours significantly to spend the majority of her time raising her three children - Sarah, David and Claire. Mary also worked at Visiting Nurse Service, helping distribute flu shots to those in need, and then spent the last several years of her career as a nurse for family practice physician, Dr. Alan Bercovitz.
Mary was first and foremost always dedicated to her family. She had a kind and giving soul, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was often the first person to care for family members and friends who were going through their own health battles. She also spent a large portion of her free time volunteering for several organizations, including St. Pius X Catholic School and Parish and the Cathedral Soup Kitchen.
Mary loved spending time with her family and especially adored her six grandchildren who called her “Mimi.” She was an avid walker, enjoyed antiquing and spent many hours gardening in the summer. She loved the warm weather and traveling with her husband, taking numerous trips to Perdido Key and St. Pete Beach, FL in the winter and Mackinac Island, MI in the summer. In her later years, she and Steve also enjoyed taking several cruises throughout Europe and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Steve; children, Sarah (J.T.) Funk, David Morrow and Claire (Matt) Bastian; six grandchildren, Abby, Luke and Maddie Funk and Liv, Owen and Jacob Bastian; her mother, Catherine Murphy Klee; and siblings Tom (Steph Stokes) Klee, Charlie (Cass) Klee and Ann (John) Kartholl; brother-in-law Jeff (Maureen) Morrow and sister-in-law Carlita (William) Cook; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John A. Klee; father-in-law, David K. Morrow; mother-in-law, Dolores Phillips; and sister-in-law, Sandra Gaines.
Visitation for Mary will be Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Dr., Indianapolis. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 6th at St. Pius X Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment will then follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
