

Maryann Pluckebaum, 93, of Indianapolis, departed this life on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Marquette Manor. Maryann was born on February 16, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late Leonard J. & Gertrude L. (Hughes) Beckerich. She was a 1950 graduate of Saint Agnes Academy and then earned her undergraduate degree from Marian College in 1954. Maryann earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Butler University in 1981. For over 25 years, she was a teacher of the 3rd and 5th grades at St. Luke Catholic School all while raising five children.
Maryann was a kind and gentle soul who always put her faith first in her life. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and later at St. Luke Catholic Church where she often volunteered in the parish offices.
Maryann was an accomplished Master Gardener and seamstress, a talented Bridge player and enjoyed IHM volleyball and bowling church groups. Maryann also loved to experience different cultures through national and international travel. She was happiest though making meaningful memories with her devoted family.
Maryann was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Vance Pluckebaum; son, Joseph Pluckebaum; grandson, Paul Pluckebaum; great-grandson, Christopher Grau and siblings, Robert & Donald Beckerich and Martha Martin.
She is survived by her loving children, David (Joann) Pluckebaum, Steven (Sheila) Pluckebaum, Michael Pluckebaum, Paul (Renee) Pluckebaum and Anne Marie (George) Cottrell; grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Tague, Rachel (Cameron) Frasier, Mary Catharine (Tony) Grau, Peter (Morgan) Pluckebaum, Ryan Pluckebaum, Shane Pluckebaum, Andrew (Anna) Pluckebaum, Maddie Cottrell, Lucy (Mat) Hobson, George Cottrell and Emily Cottrell; eight great-grandchildren; Brothers-in-law, Phil Martin & Jack Pluckebaum and a host of dear friends at Marquette Manor.
Visitation will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, located at 7575 E Holliday Dr, Indianapolis, IN, 46260, on January 16, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
