Nikki Lynn O'Brien

Nikki Lynn O’Brien, lovingly known as "Queenie" to her family, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on May 31, 2024. Born on August 12, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Nick and Mary (Scott) Catsban.

Nikki lived a vibrant life, calling 12 cities home over her lifetime. She attended Penn State and Purdue University before embarking on a career in financial services. She later chose to dedicate herself fully to her family as a homemaker, a role in which she thrived. She spent her recent years splitting time between Carmel, IN and Naples, FL.

Nikki was an avid and passionate sports fan. Her favorite teams included the Colts, Pacers, and Purdue. She shared countless memorable moments with her family through sports, including trips to the Colts Super Bowl in Miami, a Purdue Rose Bowl, and countless game days at Lucas Oil Stadium. Her enthusiasm for sports created lasting bonds and cherished memories for her family.

Nikki’s greatest treasure was her family. She was fiercely loyal, loving, and always there for her loved ones. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she consistently placed the needs of her family above her own. She remained deeply connected with her family, never missing a birthday or an opportunity to show her support, whether near or far.

Nikki is survived by her sons, Randall (Julia) Addison of Carmel, IN, and Ryan (Alicia) Addison of Pearland, TX; her daughter, Kaitlyn O’Brien of Indianapolis, IN; and her beloved grandchildren, Mia, Colin, Patrick, and Rebecca. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Ronald) Oleniuk of Ontario, Canada, her sister-in-law, Rosemary O’Brien of Naples, FL, niece Nicole (Greg) Bechkos of Ontario, Canada, and great niece Grace Clairmont of Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. O’Brien; her parents, Nick and Mary Catsban; and her brother, Michael Catsban.

Nikki's love for angels was a significant part of her life, and her home was adorned with angels as symbols of hope and protection. Her faith in these unseen guardians provides comfort as we remember her today.

A gathering to celebrate Nikki's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 12pm - 2pm at Leppert Mortuary-Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. A graveside service will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Nikki’s honor.
