Robert Edward Gangstad, II

Bob is survived by his sons, Michael (Kimberly) Gangstad and Joseph (Danielle) Gangstad; his grandchildren, Clay, Andrew, and Katrina; his siblings, Susan (Roger) Davis, Jack (Debbie) Gangstad, Nancy (Randy) Racine, and David (Laura) Gangstad; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 52 years, Vicki, who passed away in 2022.

A graduate of Purdue University, Bob earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and became a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana. Alongside his wife Vicki, he co-owned Sweeney Construction Corporation, which specialized in civil infrastructure projects for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater improvements throughout the mid-west region. They also owned and managed numerous real estate properties in the Central Indiana area.

Bob had a passion for history, with a particular enthusiasm for American historical events and figures. He enjoyed exploring the wonders of science and the intricacies of mathematics, often engaging in lively discussions with family and friends about discoveries and concepts that fascinated him. Bob’s love of sports was evident throughout his life—he was not only a dedicated fan but also participated actively, especially on the golf course, where he spent countless hours honing his skills and enjoying friendly competition. In addition to being an avid golfer, Bob was a collector, cherishing items that held personal significance or historical value, and sharing stories about them with those close to him. Above all, family was the cornerstone of his life; he took great pride in nurturing strong bonds with his loved ones, celebrating their achievements, and supporting them through challenges. Bob’s unwavering positive outlook, infectious laughter, and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, ensuring he will be fondly remembered for the warmth and joy he brought to every gathering.
