Obituary of Rosemarie "Rosie" Katherine Morgan
Rosemarie Katherine (Flick) Morgan was born October 16, 1929. She went to Heaven on May 17, 2020 to be with her beloved husband Jess, her parents, William Bernard Flick and Martha Sophia (Wessel) Flick, her brother William “Bud” Flick, sisters Martha Edna (Flick) Fowley and Frances Jeanette Flick, niece Kathleen (Fowley) Lyons and great niece Barbara Fowley. Rosie loved people. She had the gift of gab and never thought of anyone as a stranger. She was on a first name basis with everyone from her neighbors to the cashiers in the stores where she shopped. One time she even had a lively half hour conversation with a lady who had dialed the wrong phone number. Rosie’s caring nature was evident in her choice of profession as a registered nurse. She enjoyed nursing and helping people. Even after she retired, she was always taking care of family members or friends who were ill. When she herself was ill in St. Vincent Hospital, she delighted in saying to the nurses who took care of her, “I’m an old St. V graduate and you can see my picture in the graduating class of 1950 on the wall downstairs.” She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and was on the committee that would make and deliver meals to church for funeral services as long as she was physically able. Rosie was an artist at heart, and she made beautiful silk flower arrangements and wreaths for family and friends. Even the Christmas and birthday gifts she gave were lovingly wrapped works of art, always with a special hand-made bow. Her artistry could also be seen in her flower gardens that the hummingbirds and flutterbys loved to visit. In her younger years, Rosie was an avid bowler and loved swimming. She and Jess threw legendary July 4th family cook outs and pool parties. Her favorite vacations were those spent in Myrtle Beach with Jess and their many friends who perfected Harvey Wallbanger parties on the beach. More recently Rosie had great fun organizing The Lunch Bunch, her neighborhood ladies’ monthly lunch group. She also enthusiastically participated in the Bunco Babes monthly dice game. Rosie is survived by her daughter, Paula Morgan and Paula’s partner, Al Rodriguez, her nieces Patricia Fowley (Richard) Hughes, Sharon Fowley (John) Pritsch, nephews, Joseph (Teri) Fowley, Edward (Peggy) Fowley, and a slew of much loved great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom affectionately call her Aunt DoDo (because somewhere along the line, one of the kids couldn’t pronounce Rosie). Rosie had a special place in her heart for children and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was her favorite charity. Paula would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful nurses, CNA’s and staff at Hamilton Trace Senior Living who so lovingly took care of Rosie. Calling will be Friday, May 22, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 East 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
