It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aaron Lewis MacDonald of Port Hood, NS on March 21, 2025, at the age of 47. Born in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on July 5, 1977, he was the youngest son of Charles and the late Mary Claire MacDonald (née McDaniel). He leaves to mourn Lewis MacDonald, his beloved son with Angela MacNeil and Julien, his honorary son; sister, Katrina; brothers, Joe (Ken Nathanson) and Shanne; as well as his godparents, Tommy and the late Adeline MacDonald; many aunts, uncles, niece, cousins, friends and colleagues.
A graduate of Port Hood Consolidated School and Nova Scotia Community College; he left with a diploma in Small Engine Repair. He subsequently worked at Halifax Shipyards, then several years in Western Canada on various sites, attaining his Pipefitter accreditation, before coming home to his love of fishing and helping his parents and family. He was a proud member of Pipefitters UA Local Union No. 488 and considered many of his colleagues to be his “brothers”.
A lifelong super fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs even when they failed once again to clinch the Stanley Cup, Aaron also loved the camaraderie of others, playing darts and pool, tinkering in his garage, riding his side-by-side, mowing lawns in summer or plowing snow in winter. One always knew when Aaron entered a room. His booming voice and sarcastic laugh were trademarks, as was telling stories or teasing those he loved with a smirk and a wink. He could always be counted on to come to anyone needing assistance, and his heart and compassion knew no bounds. He held friendship and family paramount. His respect for the elderly and care for animals were testaments to his character. He will be greatly and forever missed.
