

MacIsaac, Alex Hugh – age 78, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish. He was born in Upper South West Mabou,on March 10, 1933, Inverness Co. He was a son of the late Hugh A. and Christena (MacInnis) MacIsaac. Alex worked at home with his brothers, pulp cutting and lumbering up until 1952; from 1952 – 1954 he worked in the hydro-electric tunnel in Niagara Falls, Ont; from 1954 – early 1960’s in the mines in Quebec, in Blind River, and Elliot Lake, Ont; after the 1960’s he worked in Toronto at the Upper Canada College in maintenance, after his retirement he returned to Cape Breton. He is survived by son, Roderick MacIsaac; grandson, Alex; brothers, Harold A. (Janet), Hugh (Florence) both of Port Hawkesbury; sister, Florence Thompson, Ottawa, sister-in-law, Bernadette MacIsaac; nieces and nephews, Daniel MacIsaac, Bernard (Clare) MacIsaac, Sam MacIsaac, Marlene (Lorne) MacIsaac, Irene (Darrell) Gillis, Kim (Kevin) Cranton, Brian MacIsaac (Lorraine) ; Jerry (Heather) MacIsaac, Bruce (Carole) MacIsaac, Mark MacIsaac, Jody(Stephen) Kirby, Angus MacIsaac, Patricia MacIsaac, Brenda (Woody) Burnham, and Kim (Frank) Canonito. He was predeceased by son, Alex; brothers, Sam, Jerome, Roderick, John and Angus. Visitation will be held 7 -9 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 7 in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be held at11 a.m. Friday, April 8 in St. Joseph's Church, Glencoe Mills, Fr. Bernie MacDonald officiating, burial to follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Glencoe Mills.
