May 31, 1936- September 2, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest mother, Anne Isabelle Poirier. Mom passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 2, 2025.
Anne was a daughter of the late Moise and Catherine (Deveau) Poirier.
She was born in Cheticamp, NS on May 31, 1936, and as a young girl moved to Inverness with her family. Upon the completion of school, she attended nursing school in Moncton, NB and became a caring and devoted RNA.
While in NB she raised her family of 3 children, Rose, Ella and Derwin who she loved deeply. After her children were grown she moved back to Inverness where she spent the remainder of her life. Anne devoted her life to her family and volunteering in the community. She was actively involved in social events and gatherings. She enjoyed spending time with friends playing darts, crib and of course her beloved Bingo! She also loved to spend hours picking blueberries, sewing and baking. You never left Anne's place hungry! However, her greatest pass time was to be found anywhere with a fishing rod in hand. Mom's love for family and friends was evident as when you walked into a room her smile would light up the midnight sky.
Mom is survived by her children, Derwin (Debbie) and Ella; grandchildren, Hunter, Christopher, Gordon, Meghan and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Owen, Roland and Henry; her nieces, Pauline, Bernadette and Margie along with many other nieces and nephews. Also, her dearest friend Ruth Skinner.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Rose Anne and infant daughter, Gertrude; parents, Moise and Catherine; sisters, Veronica, Margaret and Mary Ann; brothers, Paul and Eli.
The family would like to Thank the nursing staff and Doctor's at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion for our mother and her family.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11am in St. Matthew's Church, Inverness. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11am. Celebration of life to follow.
Private family burial will take place at St. Matthew's cemetery.
