It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Campbell on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in Inverness, after losing a courageous battle with a chronic and debilitating illness. Born in Inverness on July 3, 1958, she was a daughter of the late Colin and Gert Campbell. Cathy was a member of Stella Maris Church, Inverness and would like to be remembered as the free spirit she truly was; for her love of simple, family gatherings; the bonfires at the beach; hiking at Sight Point; picnics at Magic Cove; picking blueberries at the Red Bank; walking the boardwalk; making fudge squares; her colourful, whimsical artwork; the ready smile that lit up her eyes. Cathy worked as a Continuing Care Assistant in Halifax for several years. Her exemplary work ethic and compassionate care for the residents earned her the respect of coworkers and supervisors alike. As such, her responsibilities eventually included mentoring students and new staff, a responsibility she fulfilled with diligence and pride. Cathy is survived by her beloved daughter, best friend and staunch ally, Robin (Colin) and granddaughter, Sophie, Halifax; sisters, Ann (Jamie) MacKinnon, Sydney; and Marie (Titus) MacMillan, Inverness; brothers, Neil (Linda), Titus, Inverness; nieces, Margaret, Jennifer (Adam), Rachel (Chris), and Amy (Jonathon); nephews, Trevor (Shana), James (Megan), and Adam; special niece, Emily and special friends, Ryan and Katie. The late Cathy Campbell will rest in Stella Maris Church on Tuesday, January 31 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. with funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m., Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Cottage Workshop, Inverness.
