Catherine Mary MacEachern

MacEachern (Fortune) Catherine Mary - 94, of Judique, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June, 4, 2013 in Inverary Manor, Inverness. She was born in Hillsdale, Judique, on the 22 of June, 1918. Catherine was the youngest daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (MacEachern) Fortune. As many of us know, Catherine was a very classy lady and at the age of 94 she still hadn't lost her love for shopping, especially for new sweaters. One of her last requests was to go for dinner and shopping at her favorite place, the Cove Motel, for her 95 th birthday.Catherine also enjoyed going for drives, playing bingo, and a good game of cards, along with a good cup of tea and homemade cheese in the company of her many friends. Catherine had a love for animals, and cherished the company of her cat Jessie over the past few years. Catherine married Hughie MacEachern in Windsor, Ont., in 1948. As a young couple they lived and worked in Detroit untill retiring and settling back in Jusique. Catherine was predeceassed by her loving husband, Hughie; sisters, Mary Anne, Mary and Annie; brothers, Charlie, Mike and Archie. She is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the doctor's, nurses and staff of the Inverary Manor, and Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Also to the many homecare workers and ladies who so passionately cared for Catherine while still living at home. Cremation has taken place and upon Catherine's request there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held on Monday at 11 am in St. Andrew's Church, Judique with Fr. Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
