

Basker, Christopher – 76, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2014. Born in Inverness on December 25, 1937, he was a son of the late Margaret Basker. Chris was a man who worked hard to support his family, as they were the most important people in his life. He worked in various industries over the years including farming, lumber, mining, lobster fishing and for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Van Zutphen Construction Company. Chris was involved in the Harness Racing industry as an owner of horses and raced them at the Inverness Raceway. He was also a retired member of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department. He loved outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling. Chris will be greatly missed by Helen, his wife of 57 years; his children, Loretta (Harold), Halifax; Wesley (Lynn), Lincoln, N.B;, Arlene (James), Oromoncto, N.B.; Roger (Jane), Colin (Darlene), Inverness. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, April, Megan, Joshua, Alisha, Brenton, William and great gandchildren, Brayden, Liam, Hunter, Jake and Will. He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Inverness; numerous nieces and newphews; step grandson, T.J. (Stephanie) and great- grandsons, Ayden and Gage. Chris was predeceased by; grandson, Christopher Harold at birth; sisters, Josie, Veronica, Loretta, Rose, Rita and brother, Colin. Cremation has taken place according to his wishes with no visitation or funeral services. There will be a celebration of Chris’s life held in Inverness Fire Hall on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
