David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and proud Judiquer!
Born on November 5, 1963 to John Jameison and Mary (MacMillan) MacIsaac of Judique, he was born into a family of ten boys and one girl. Lovingly referred to as one of the “little ones”, he had a very special place in everyone’s heart, as he was humble, kind, and easy going.
Those were traits David brought into his adult life; non judgmental, willing to always lend a hand, and kind to everyone he met. He lived his faith every day, and relied on that faith when facing his illness.
He followed in his father’s footsteps as a community volunteer, believing strongly in the need to do your part for your community. He served on the first Board of Directors of the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre, had been a member of the Judique Volunteer Fire Department since 1989, serving on the Executive as Secretary and Vice President during that time, and was a First Responder.
David was most comfortable in his role as husband, father, and grandfather. His family was everything to him. He supported his children in all their interests, ferrying them all over the province to participate in competitive sports and any and all other interests. All he asked in return was that they cheer for the Bruins and try their hand at being a goaltender. They all complied!
Whether it was an annual family golf excursion, huge breakfasts on Saturday mornings for family and friends; cooking a perfect Prime Rib which he had personally picked out or sitting doing Crosswords with the odd “Dad joke” thrown in, he was all about his family.
Nothing made him happier than when he welcomed his beautiful grandchildren into their family. In his final days, the mere mention of one of them would bring forth a smile. Papa will now be a guardian Angel to all six of them.
For many years, David was a driver for Ideal Concrete, an invaluable employee who was meticulous about his work and with the perfect
demeanor and skill set to train new employees. He was particularly proud of the fact that in nineteen years of working for the company, he’d never had an accident. Because of all his travel, he was always the “go to” person to call if anyone ended up lost on a backroad somewhere!
David will be forever in the hearts of those who loved him: His beautiful wife of 34 years, Lorraine (VanZutphen) who faithfully and lovingly stood with him and cared for him throughout his illness, and his children, Jamieson (Jessica), Bradley, Andrew, Stephen (Amanda), Eric, Marianna, and Julia.
His precious grandchildren: Levi, Claire, Christie, Josie, Max, and Milo.
His siblings, Donnie (Annette), Marina (late Robbie MacEachern), AJ (Virginia), Mickey (Sarah Ann), Jamie (Louise), Lauchie (Coleen), Neil (Janet).
His sisters-in-law: Marion MacIsaac (late Jimmie MacIsaac) Sheila MacIsaac (late Duncan MacIsaac) Maureen (Mario) Ferrante.
Brother-in-law, Harvey (Janet) VanZutphen Father-in-law John VanZutphen, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Johnnie, Jimmie, and Duncan; his mother-in-law, Teresa VanZutphen; brothers-in-law, Robbie MacEachern and Patrick VanZutphen; niece Meggie MacIsaac and nephew, Keith Campbell.
The family would like to offer sincere appreciation to all those involved in David’s care: He was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Dr. Susie Egar, the staff of the Oncology Clinic at ICMH, the Continuing Care Nurses, Palliative Care Staff, EMTs, siblings who took David to appointments, visited, and offered comfort and support to their brother.
