With very heavy hearts we announce the sudden death of David Lauchlin MacKinnon who passed away in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Thursday October 14, 2021 at the age of 57. David was born in Inverness, NS on August 4, 1964. He lived his life in East Lake Ainslie on the family farm.
David was a devoted husband, father, and son. His family was everything to him. His children were his pride and joy, and he was so proud of their accomplishments.
He had a varied career over the years as a farmer, woodsman, labourer, and trucker, of which he enjoyed all and those he worked with.
David experienced various health issues over the last number of years. He faced this with strength and courage, and he had the steadfast support of his family in these times.
David leaves his wife, Carol Anne (Poirier) and children, Zelena and Lake; stepchildren Brenna (Brandon) and Andrew (Briagha); step grandchildren Lucinda, Ryder, and Kate; and his sister, Linda (Daniel) Beaton, Mabou.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lauchie and Joan (MacPhail) MacKinnon, grandparents Dave and Annie MacKinnon, and daughter Mara (1993).
There will be a graveside service in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery (Presbyterian) on Saturday October 23 at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Maggie Plant celebrating.
Memorial donations in memory of David may be made to SPCA or to a charity of your choice.
