Eldon Daniel Doyle, aged 71, of Inverness, Nova Scotia, passed into eternal life peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 31st, 2026, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on May 22nd, 1955, he was one of 16 children born to the late Charles Winthrop Doyle and Catherine Ann (nee MacLellan) Doyle.
Eldon was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick A. (Mary) and Edmund; his sisters, Teresa, Yvonne (Charles), Shirley, Mary Magdelen (Thomas), Blanche (Norman), and Charlene, who died in infancy; and his nephew Breton. He is survived by his brothers, Elmer Joseph, Stephen (Evelyn), Bernard (Linda), and Jerry (Tonya), his sisters, Iris (Wilfred), Sheila Ann (Jack) and Marie (Paul); partner, Johnena; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Eldon lived in Inverness all his life. He was a dedicated outdoorsman and enjoyed walking about his community. He loved horses and spent many hours around the racetrack. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and taught many of his young nephews these sports. He lived a simple life and was loved by all who knew him. He was known as a gentle and kind soul who never spoke a harsh word to anyone. He was a regular at the local coffee shop with his beloved Johnena and made many friends there. Eldon’s passing is a great loss to his family but will undoubtedly be a significant loss to the Inverness community who will no longer have the pleasure of meeting Eldon as he walked along the main street.
