

Age 86 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 28, 2017 in the Inverary Manor, Inverness Cape Breton. Born in Black Point, Victoria County on November 21, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John Alex and Annie Mackinnon . We say good bye to a special wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a passion for knitting and she shared gifts of homemade socks, mittens ,and quilts with family and friends throughout the community. Until her final days she was knitting socks and mittens to donate to the Children's Play Place in Antigonish.
Elizabeth was a successful business owner and an inspiration to many, she operated her own bake shop in the 1970s and later was co-owner of the Hyland Restaurant both in Inverness . A strong lady, at the age of 56 she obtained her driver's license to become more independent. Elizabeth is known to many for her beautiful cooking and delicious baked goods, she loved plants and flowers in her home, enjoyed company and a good chat. Most of all she loved her family and especially the love of her life, Archie.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 62 years Archibald Timmons; her children, Lee ( Sandra ), St. Margaret's Village; Marie( A.D.) Inverness; Jean( Ivan), Inverness; Clearance (Tracey), Whitehorse; Timmy( Jackie), Sydney; Lester (Terry), Halifax; Celeste (Brian), Inverness; Jay Whitehorse; brothers, Johnny (late Marcella), Paddy (Alice),and Wayne Mackenzie; sisters, Margaret, (late Leo MacKinnon), Althenia (late Simon Dan MacKinnon) and Deanna; sister-in-law, Diane Timmons, and Carol (late Donald Alistair); 18 grandchildren , 31 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Pre-Deceased by one son in infancy, Alexander; sister, Katie ( late Angus Fraser); brothers, Donald ( Jessie), Angus( Kristy), Peter ( May), Murdock ( Susie), Sandy ( Tina),Frankie ( Rosie) and Donald Alistair. She loved us all, and we loved her, none of us will ever forget the impact she made on our lives.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Inverness Funeral Home. Respecting Elizabeth's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or Inverary Manor Inverness.
