It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Emily Edith (Bramble) Poirier, of Halifax at the Halifax Infirmary on March 10th, 2013. Born Emily Edith Bramble on October 15th, 1923 in Portsmouth, England. She was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Stagg) Bramble. She met and married Paul Lin Poirier during the War and came to Canada with her young daughter, Pauline, on the Letitia Ship through Pier 21 in April 1946 and they settled in Inverness, Cape Breton. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mommy was an avid knitter, card player, loved playing bingo, and watching a beautiful movie. She was a member of the Stella Maris Choir (Soloist) and Northwood Choir. Her great passion in life was a good cup of hot tea; always asking the question; “did you put the milk in first.” She loved to meet up with her fellow War brides at their yearly conventions.
She is survived by her daughters Pauline Kennedy, (late Don), Inverness, Wendy Poirier, Halifax and son, Brad (Wendy MacMillan) Lower Sackville. She is survived by her grandchildren, Derek Kennedy, (Sarah), grand-niece-in-law, Crista Kennedy, Lisa (Hank Timmons), Garrett Kennedy, Leslie Poirier, Aaron Poirier, Great-grandchildren, Roxy, Ashlyn, Andra, Brady and sister Joan Deverell (late Ed) England.
