Dear Mary,
I want to express my sincere sympathy to you and Anne and all your family on the death of your dear brother. I never met Gerald in person, but I felt I knew him because of the many, many conversations I had with you over the past twenty years when you told me of the joys, the sorrows, and the everyday pleasures you shared with him. Perhaps most of all I was moved by the love and devotion you expressed in helping him to deal with his cruel affliction.

May the memories of your brother and your strong Christian faith bring solace in this time of great sadness.

With love,
Shirley Macdonald

Gerald and I worked at Canadian Gypsum Windsor N.s.--we were both single and it was our first jobs following graduation in the fifties-- we enjoyed sports and especially Horses-- he had a photographic memory and could recite every detail you might blindly ask him about from his hard covered "horse books" He was a great friend , a good person, and an all round "good guy"

We’ve known Gerald since our children were little and we would visit during our summer vacations. Two years ago we were lucky to be able to build a house near him and call him neighbour. We shared garden notes as he taught me his special secrets of growing his tomatoes. Gerald loved his garden sharing his produce with us which were transformed into desserts he loved. We will truly miss having this wonderfully kind and gentle man in our lives. Our condolences to his family. RIP Gerald.
