He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Alan and Florence Catherine (MacIntyre) MacEachern.
Also predeceased by brothers, Norman D. (Jane), Joseph G. (Alberta) and John C (Sandra).
He is survived by brother, Dannie (Stephen) in Inverness and several nieces and a nephew.
As a young man he worked in retail in Inverness and also volunteered within the community.
Active with the Inverness Jaycees, Christmas Cheer, Parish Council, KOC, Poor People's Project and the Food Bank.
A serious car accident in 1962 left Gerard with limited ability to work and endless years of pain up to his death. He strongly believed in making life fun for the youth of Inverness and
became manager of The Corporate Sound high school rock band and they did provide fun at the Parish Hall, Inverness for teens.
I would like to thank Dr. Susie Egar and the hospital nursing staff, the wonderful staff at the Inverary Manor and Home Care workers for their years of care for Gerard while he was still at home.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will take place in Inverness Funeral Home on Sunday August 17th between 6 and 8 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Monday August 18th at 11 am.
Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A lunch will be served at the Inverness Legion following burial.
