July 15, 1952 – March 10, 2023
It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Harold Douglas Pond of Port Hood, Nova Scotia on March 10th, 2023 at the age of 70.
Harold is proceeded by his parents John and Esther; brother, Jackie; parents-in-law, Angus and Mary Florence Beaton; brothers-in-law, Danny Gillis, Terrance Macintyre and Sterling Morrison.
Leaving to mourn are his loving wife of 43 years, Caddy (Beaton); best friends and treasured sons, Adam (Christine) and Cory (Jillian), his grandchildren; his pride and joy; Hannah, Addison, Dessa, Maren and Aj and his four-legged grand baby, Nash. Also mourning Harold are his sisters, Patricia and Norma; his brothers, George (Bev), Clifford and Kent, other members of the Pond and Beaton Families as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
Harold was a kind man, the true meaning of a gentleman; he was known by many for his infectious smile and quick wit and was often seen cruising town in his prized 52 Chevy, “Molly”. Harold was considered by many to be the unofficial Mayor of Clan Ranald, a man who loved the Red Wings and always made time for a chat during which you were sure to be left laughing.
Visitation will be held in Port Hood and Area Resting Place on Thursday March 16th from 2-6 pm. Funeral Service to take place in St. Stephen's United Church, Port Hood on Friday March 17th at 11:00 am with Reverend Alicia Cox celebrating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Stephen’s UCW or the Port Hood and Area Resting Place.
