I attended Hughie’s wake yesterday evening and his funeral today, as did others. Many folks could have easily decided to not attend “either or”, due to inclement weather and icy conditions underfoot...this did not happen. The turnout at the hall yesterday and the turnout at the church today was a true testament to Hughie Patrick’s significance in the community. Hughies signature trait was his kindness to others and I personally witnessed his willingness and eagerness to give. We exchanged a few Christmas gifts over the years and my reluctance to accept something from his freezer, such as a pork roast or steak was always overwhelmed by his desire to give... he preferred to give as opposed to receiving. I have a profound sadness in me this evening, knowing I will not see his physical presence anymore. Hughie Patrick, may you reunite with your good friend, (Donald Katie Ann)and bask in peace and tranquillity for ever more. To his loving family, I offer you my sincere condolences.
