

It is with heavy hearts we, the family, announce the passing of John Barry Delaney, on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Inverness on June 27, 1947, he was the son of the late Ronald and Martha (Chisholm) Delaney. Barry worked as a coal miner, small engine repairman, adult care worker and recently as a heavy equipment operator. He belonged to the Operators Union Local 955.
Barry was a wonderful father, papa, brother, uncle and son. He was a great friend to all. Barry was a very caring and compassionate person. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting. He was an avid storyteller and many laughs were shared by all with him.
Barry is survived by, Eileen (MacNeil); son, David; daughters, Darlene (Justin) and Deborah (Charles), all of Inverness; brothers, Bill (Margie), Bernie (Karen), both of Dartmouth; sisters, Janice (Joe), Calgary; Mary (the late John) Lloyd, New Glasgow; Laurie, Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Lorraine (the late Ronald) Delaney, Halifax; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ronald.
Barry’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Gillian, Avery, Owen and Ainslie. They adored their papa. He was very proud of his children and their many accomplishments.
Visitation for Barry will take place on Saturday, October 30, 7-9 p.m., Sunday, October 31, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Inverness Funeral Home, MacIsaac Street, Inverness. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Stella Maris Parish with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating.Burial to follow in parish cemetery.
