

MacEachern, John Duncan “Jackie” – 63, It is with heavy hearts that we, the family and friends of Jackie MacEachern announce his passing on Sunday, January 23, 2011 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Jackie, the son of Mary Catherine (MacDonald) and the late Hughie Duncan MacEachern, was employed by Canada Post for 29 years and retired as Postmaster from the Port Hood Office in February 2010. Jackie also volunteered throughout the community and for nearly 30 years was an active member of the Mabou Community Hall Committee. Jackie is survived by his mom, Mary Catherine (Aite Curam), special friend Jane Gillis, aunts Mary Elizabeth White and Elizabeth Beaton, aunt by marriage Helen MacDonald, aunts Rita Gillis, Theresa (Archie) MacDonald, Anne (Gerard) MacMaster, Mary MacDonald, uncles Collie (Catherine) and John Francis MacDonald as well as his many cousins and friends with whom he shared his great love of music and dance. Jackie was predeceased by his father Hughie Duncan, uncles Dannie and Alex Angus MacEachern, Alexander, D.A., I.D. and Kenneth Joseph MacDonald, aunts Agnes MacDonnell, Sarah Cassie Houlihan, Mary Anne Beaton, Bessie Cummings and Catherine Beaton. Visitation will be held in St. Mary’s Church Vestry on Thursday, January 27, 7-9 p.m. and Friday, January 28, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29 in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou.
