

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of John "Piper" Joseph MacLellan announce his passing in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015. Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, on June 12, 1954, John was the son of the late Hughie Allan and Margaret (Kennedy) MacLellan. John is survived by his wife, Priscilla (Timmons) and children, Donald, Chatham, ON; Shawna (Jason), Inverness; Christa (Joey), Inverness; and Damian, Inverness. John is also survived by his grandchildren, Lilly, Spencer, and Carson. John had tremendous love for his wife and family, with endless compassion and support for those who he loved and knew. John was a dedicated and hard worker, having worked at O’Connor’s Texaco/Ultramar for over 35 years, as well as at the Inverness Raceway in his later years. John was also actively involved in the community throughout his life. He was involved in the Inverness Volunteer Fire Dept., Inverness Ground Search and Rescue, Inverness Minor Hockey Association, and the Knights of Columbus. John had a major love for hockey and harness racing, which he got to thoroughly enjoy with his sons over the years. He was a true gentleman and would never think twice about helping others in need. “Piper” will be truly missed by those who knew him. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 7-9 p.m.; Monday, July 6, from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. with Funeral mass to follow on Tuesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial will be in the St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Cemetery, Broad Cove. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
