

MacLeod, Joseph "Josie", Age, 84, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Broad Cove on March, 24, 1932, he was raised by adopted parents, Mary Catherine and Angus MacNeil. Josie is survived by sisters, Marion ( Jim) MacDonald, Inverness; Peggy (David) Burke, Toronto, Ont.; brothers, Donald (Margaret, deceased) Macleod, Cheticamp; Jackie, deceased (Jeanette) MacLeod, Toronto Ont.; nieces, Donna, Deborah, Jennifer, Charlene and nephew, James, all in Ontario. Josie was a certified welder and worked on the Seal Island Bridge, as well as many other construction projects around the province. He had a great love of horses, especially the two he kept at home. Josie's interests included a keen focus on family history. He kept many photographs and records of things related to the MacLeod clan. He enjoyed the Scottish Concerts, especially the fiddle music, owing a large collection of CDs, records and cassettes. Josie was fluent in Gaelic and was delighted when he could engage with people in lively conversation. He will indeed be missed by his many friends and family. Visitation will be held on Thursday in St. Margaret of Scotland, Church, Broad Cove from 10-10-45 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating, burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Cemetery Fund, Broad Cove.
