The family sadly announces Anne's passing on Saturday,January 27,2018, in Elmsdale surrounded by her family, where she resided.She was a member of Stella Maris Church, Inverness, and was the last surviving member of her family. Anne was born August 31, 1924 at home in Glenville. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Jesse (MacKinnon) MacEachern. She lived most of her life in the family home, a devout Catholic, known as a good neighbor with great hospitality, especially loving visits from family. She loved a good card game, watching her Blue Jays and was always up for a good celidh.
After briefly working in Montréal and living with her husband in Paris and London, Ontario., she returned home to care for her mother until her death. She continued to take in many elderly borders as well as foster children in the following years. She also volunteered in the local tuck shop and baked for many community events
She is survived by her children, Paul (June), Port Howe, NS; Dianne (Jeff) Strang, Strattford. P.E.I.; and Debbie (Claude), Fleury, Lantz, NS.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ambrose of 61 years; sons, Joe (Mary) and Basil.
Thanks to the dedicated staff at The Magnolia for their wonderful care they gave mom in the past 2 years. Also to the staff at the Myra, especially Kelly and Tena.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stella Maris Church Building Fund, Inverness, or to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
