Mary Florence Merlin

Mary was born on July 21,1934 to the late Mary Jane O' Brien and Hughie Dan Mac Donnell. Mary is survived by her daughter, Jane (Carl) Kaiser; and her son, Daniel Mac Lennan; granddaughters, Amanda Kaiser, Charlie Mac Lennan, and Madeline Troini; grandsons, Charles (Crystal) Kaiser, Curtis (Jewel) Kaiser and Tanner Mac Lennan; and Melissa Mac Lennan, mother of Tanner and Charlie.

She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren which she loved dearly.

Mary is also survived by her dear sisters, Penny Kenndy and Sadie Burton. Her brothers, Hughie Mac Donnell, Harold Mac Donnell and Jimmy Mac Donnell. (Mary came from a large family of ten and was very close to all her siblings)

Mary had many nieces and nephews.

Mary is pre-deceased by husband, James Edward Merlin; her son Michael Merlin; her granddaughter, Holly Bowser; sisters, Katherine Hardy, Christina Shaw, Johnena Mac Lellan; her brother, Donald James Mac Donnell; sisters-in-law, Audrey Mac Donnell, Phyllis Mac Donnell, Beatrice Mac Donnell, brothers-in-law, Stan Hardy, Donald Shaw, Rannie Kennedy, John Alec Mac Lellan.

Mary was very involved with the community. She was member of the CB club (served as president, her club name was Bingo Marker) She was a member the Royal Candian Legion, the Firemans Ladies Auxiliary, and Stella Maris Church. She was an avid bingo player, traveling to many places just to try her luck. In her younger days she loved to go to square dances, and a good kitchen party.

Her passion besides bingo was baking (who didn't love her pies) and spending time with her family. She worked at the Cottage Workshop for many years.

The family would like to thank the Manor and Palliative Care for their amazing care. Also, a big thank you to all came to sit with her this past week.

Visitation will take place on Thursday September 11, 2025, from 10:00 -10:45 am with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am, interment will follow in St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Cemetery, Broad Cove.

In her memory donations can be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or the Food Pantry, Inverness. A lunch will be served at the Royal Canadian Legion.
