Mary C Rankin

Rankin, Mary Catherine - age 95, passed away in Inverary Manor on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Born in Port Ban, Inverness Co., on July 15, 1916, Mary was a daughter of the late Ronald and Katie Anne (MacLellan) Rankin. Mary Catherine is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary Catherine was a member of Stella Maris Church, and lifelong resident of Inverness. Mary was an avid reader and had a great sense of humour. Mary was a very quiet person and solitary soul. She will be missed by all who came to know her. Mary is survived by four nephews and six nieces .She was predeceased by brothers, John Alexander (Daisy), Hugh Donald (Annie), John Archie (Helen), Duncan Angus, and sister, Annie Belle (Michael) Barry. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 12 –1:45 pm with funeral mass to follow at 2 pm in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to Inverary Manor, Inverness. We the family would like to express our sincere thanks for the support, kindness and tender loving care given to Mary by Dr. Bennett, the staff and volunteers of Inverary Manor and Inverness Hospital . A special thank you to Ruth Horowitz who was a good friend to Mary for many years and to Paula Malenfant, a special family friend.
