She is survived by her brothers Elmer Joseph, Stephen (Evelyn), Bernard (Linda), Eldon, and Jerry (Tonya); her sisters Iris (Wilfred), Sheila Ann (Jack), and Marie (Paul); as well as a great many cherished nieces and nephews.
Having graduated from High School, Teresa began her professional career with the Royal Bank of Canada in Inverness, Nova Scotia before moving to Halifax to work as the personal secretary to the Executive Officer at CFB Stadacona for 13 years. For a brief period, she was employed at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Ontario before returning to the Maritimes where she spent over two decades as a Data Entry Supervisor with the Government of Nova Scotia at the Victoria General Hospital's Cytology Division in Halifax, NS where she retired early at the age of 63. On and off for over 70 years, Teresa made Halifax and Rose Bay, NS her home, before returning to Inverness in her final years to be close to family.
A woman of profound Catholic faith, Teresa was a devoted long-time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Halifax, where she volunteered for many years as a parish sacristan. Her spiritual life led her on multiple pilgrimages to sacred sites including Medjugorje, Rome, Poland, and the Holy Land. She held the distinction of being the first lay member of the Companions of the Cross. Teresa cherished her independence, particularly the freedom afforded by her car, which enabled her to make many summer trips to Boston to visit her best friend, Dorothy Warner, and her family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, painting, and various crafts such as needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting, and crocheting.
Teresa's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, family devotion, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in the peace of Christ her Savior.
