Patricia was the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Doyle) Beaton. She grew up in Mabou and graduated from Mabou Consolidated School in 1975. She went to Mount Saint Vincent University, graduating in 1979. She had a career as a medical secretary, working primarily at the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing.
Patricia married her soul mate and constant companion Grant in 1994. They lived in Halifax for a number of happy years together, and moved to Mabou in 2004 when Patricia's working career was cut short by the effects of Multiple Sclerosis. At that time, Grant left his work to care for her. Patricia loved nothing better than celebrating special occasions like birthdays with family and friends, most especially with her many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.
Patricia is survived by her husband Grant Ayotte; sister, Jeannie MacDonald (Jake); brothers, Donald (Gail), Francis (Donalda), David, Jack (Jenny), Kenneth, Leo (Mary Lou ), and Leonard (Marguerite); as well as all her nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Visitation will take place at Saint Mary's Church, Mabou on Sunday April 3 between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 4 at Saint Mary's Church under the direction of Father Bernie MacDonald.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ethel Kennedy for providing support and friendship for Patricia and Grant over the last few years.
