Paula Mary Malenfant

19 October , 19487 April , 2019

Malenfant, Paula Mary. From Inverness, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2019, at the age of 70. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elisabeth Florence Beaton and was pre-deceased by twin sister, Pauline. Paula leaves behind her beloved husband, Jack and cherished sons, Michel (Sophie), Steven (Stephanie) and David (Gail); along with adoring grandchildren, Cassidy, Sabrina, Gabrielle, Olivia, Kylee, and Tyler. Paula also leaves behind many loving friends and extended family.

Paula went to school in Inverness and Mabou and then headed to Halifax to complete her nursing degree. This is where she got her first job as a nurse and met the love of her life, Jack. After they married, Paula left her home to follow Jack and travelled with their children, living in different parts of Canada. She always wanted to come home to Inverness and was finally able to once her husband retired. Paula then worked at the Inverary Manor, as a nurse, where she loved serving others and making sure they were well looked after. Due to health issues, she was forced to leave her beloved job.

Visitation will be held at the Stella Maris Church, 47 Upper Railway St., Inverness on Monday, April 15th, from 10-10:45 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, the family would like to invite friends and extended family to join them in the Inverness Firehall as we gather for a Celebration of Life. Dear Malenfant Family,

My deepest condolences to you in this difficult time.

I have very fond memories of our family get togethers between The Trepaniers and Malenfants in Montreal & Halifax in the 80s as a kiddo.

Your mom was one of a kind lady and a dear friend to my Mom.

Paula, Pauline and I were childhood friends, we were proud to be 'Corner Girls' together, and we all got scolded together for giggling during The Rosary that was often just a normal part of visiting their home. But none of that added up to the generosity that Paula and Pauline gave me the summer I unexpectedly had to take a university course. Instead of working for that six weeks, I found myself very broke and in Halifax. Out of the goodness of their hearts, Paula and Pauline shared their tiny apartment with me, a childhood friend, a Corner Girl who needed them dearly. May you rest in peace, old friend, and may you once again walk arm in arm with Pauline.

My deepest condolences to Jack, Michel, Stephen, David and extended family, I was very sad to learn of Paula’s passing. I have fond memories of spending time with the Malenfant family at their camping property while growing up. Paula would always go out of her way to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. May you Rest In Peace Paula.

I was very sadden hearing about Paula and my heart and prayers goes out to Jack (Jacques) and the boys and all her family and friends. I literally had a melt down. We first met in St. Hubert in the 1980s when Paula agreed to take care of my daughter Ashley as her child care provider. What started off as a trail basis, ended up with Ashley and I becoming part of the their family. There were some great times with our small Anglo community group of friends and it was a special bond - it was Paula and Jack that were the glue for our little group. We were fortunate to visit several times once they moved back to Inverness - remembering Jack diving into a group of jellyfish to show Ashley it was okay to swim in the harbour - both Paula and I laughing our heads off as Jack came up bravely trying to show no fear (or pain!). Paula was a great friend to so many folks and effected everyone in a positive way with her compassionate and caring nature. I will miss you my friend. Love and hugs, Edie, Ashley and Dennis
