Viola Margaret (LeBlanc) MacNeil - It is with great sadness that we, the family of Viola Margaret MacNeil, announce her passing in Inverary Manor, Inverness on January 18, 2018 at the age of 82. Born in Margaree Forks on December 31, 1935, she was a daughter, of the late Dennis and Rose (Chiasson) LeBlanc. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis; and her children, Kevin (Mary Jo), Inverness; Bernie (April), Inverness; Bobby (Lesa), Inverness; Mark (Cecilia), Upper Tantallon; Diane (Jake) Shaw, Upper Tantallon; Dawn (Johnny) MacDonnell, New Glasgow; and sisters, Marion Crowell and Mary Theresa Arsenault. Viola has a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Connor and Bryce; Trent and Drew; Devon (Amy), Stephen, Frankie, Abby; Emily and Ethan; Jacob, Adam and Liam; Breton and Corbin; and great-grandson Sam. We will always cherish, along with many others, our time with her and her homemade treasures of cookies, banana bread, blueberry muffins, mittens and dish clothes. However, most of all, we will cherish her beautiful hand stitched quilts. These treasures were given for weddings, special occasions and sometimes just because you were related. While raising her six children, she was a dedicated RN at the Inverary Manor. She was devoted to God and belonged to Stella Maris Parish, where she served on the Parish Council and Eucharistic Minister. Her life was committed to volunteer service, especially the Tuck Shop, ensuring everyone’s needs were met, whether family or part of the community. She always said, “Work like everything depends on you and pray like everything depends on God.” Viola was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine, Claudette, Verna, Christine, Mary Louise
Brothers Bernie, Leonard, and William.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Monday, January 22 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. With funeral mass at 11 am Tuesday, January 23 in Stella Maris Church with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Special thank-you to the staff, our extended family, at the Mountainview Villa for your incredible care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Mountainview Villa or Palliative Care at the Inverness Hospital.
