Walter Alphonse (Wallie) Walker, age 70, was sung back home to God on the evening of October 17, 2018 surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late John Dan and Margaret Christine (Nicholson) Walker. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; children, Angie (Dwayne) MacDonnell, Walter (Kayla), Tanya (Redmond) Doucet, all of Inverness; grandchildren, Mallory, Alex Dan, Myra, Miranda and Logan; brothers, Micky(Betty) and sister, Lorainne Dykes of Inverness; sister-in-law, Caroline Walker of Creignish; and many many special in-laws, nieces and nephews. Wallie was predeceased by brothers, Geordie of Creignish; Alexander(Jean), Hugh (Florence), Jamie (Ann), Lauchie (Mary), sisters, Isabel (Dan C.) MacNeil, Immaculata Mack (Sonny) Hartford, Rose(Raymond) MacKinnon; brother-in-law, Harry Dykes all of Inverness.

Throughout his life, Wallie was a well-known lobster fisherman and a man who liked to take on many projects from welding to building homes. Wallie loved nothing more than sitting in his living room surrounded by his family, especially his 5 special grandchildren who he adored. A lover of country music and a huge fan of The Eagles, he was happiest listening to music, playing guitars and having a sing- song in his home. His door was always open, the tea was always on, making his home a place where people were always welcome to share stories and enjoy the ocean view. Occasions were always celebrated to the fullest, especially birthdays in Wallie's home. He loved watching the Leafs and spent many years in the rinks around the province with his children. Later in life he took great pleasure in following his son's horses around the Maritimes and he also enjoyed his many years around the track where he videoed the races for almost 30 years.

To all that knew him, he was considered a good friend. He lived his life as it should be, showing kindness, generosity and love. He taught us all to respect and appreciate the beauty of Inverness and our surrounding areas, especially his favourite hunting spots such as Broad Cove and Site Point.

Visitation will take place in Inverness Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, October 19. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20 in Stella Maris Church Inverness, Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to the Inverness Hospital Foundation. Sandra, Angie, Tanya and Walter,

Wallie will always be forever in my heart as the man who shared his love of the ocean with me and my family. He would take me out, as a child, and later when I had a family, in his boat and tell us all about the shore and how it has changed over the years. He let my children drive and made them feel special. He was a great man, who loved all of you dearly!! You are all in my prayers as you navigate through the next very difficult weeks ahead.

Thank you Wallie, for your generosity and kindness.
Love,
Geraldine

Our thoughts and prayers are with your beautiful family. I have so many fond memories of hanging out in your living room listening to amazing music. But one of my greatest memories is watching Wallie, your husband, your dad, beaming as he listened to your beautiful voices belt out another great song. Just watching him, with such pride, listen to the three of you sing together gave me goosebumps. You all value family so much, which he without a doubt instilled in you all. May you cherish all your wonderful family memories forever. He was the real deal, salt of the earth. Rest in peace Wallie. Love you all!
