Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary House officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Edith was born July 23, 1921 to Garrett and Bertha (Williams) Counts. She worked as a taxidermist and a waitress and later worked as an aide for Iowa Park Healthcare Center.
She and John C. Whitley were married December 28, 1939 in Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Edith is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Leolon Cherry and husband, Walt of Mahtomedi, MN and Dolores and John Welch of Lewisville, TX; two grandchildren, Alicia Kay Harrison and Michael John Freer; three great grandchildren, Hannah Carol Griffin and husband, John, and Adam Kent Harrison and Carl Daniel Harrison.
