

Eldon Sowders Dowell, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Wichita Falls. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11 AM at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating. Private burial services will follow.
Eldon was born December 31, 1933 in Rotan, TX to Leonard and Floy (Sowders) Dowell. He graduated from Rotan High School in 1952 and was a member of the Rotan Methodist Church. He then moved to Lake Diversion and met Anna Wood, whom he married on April 25, 1953. He went to work for TXU in 1954, retiring in 1992. During this time, he served his country in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. Eldon served as Fire Chief of Iowa Park for 2 years, coached Little League Baseball, and loved bluegrass music.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Anna Lucille (Wood) Dowell of Iowa Park; one son, Donald Dowell of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters, Cheryl Campbell and her husband, Mark of Iowa Park and Laura Geary and her husband, Tim of Overland Park, KS; and seven grandchildren, Stephen, Kaitlynne and Austin Dowell of Olive Branch, MS; Dustan Wahl and Scott Campbell of Iowa Park; and Michelle and James Geary of Overland Park, KS; and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Caden Wahl.
