Frances Belle Skinner was born August 6, 1950 in Electra, Texas to Robert and Faye (Hofer) Gibbs. She had resided in Iowa Park since 1960 when her family moved from Electra. She graduated from LVN School at Bethania Hospital in August 1969 and began her lifelong passion of serving others. Frances worked as a nurse ever since her graduation. During the following years, she was the director of nursing at numerous healthcare facilities, as well as working at Bethania Hospital. Her nursing career at Sheppard Air Force Base spanned over twenty years; starting in Same Day Surgery and finishing up in the Women’s Clinic.
On December 26, 1969, she married the love of her life, Danny Skinner. Throughout their 41 years and 9 months of marriage, she was a hardworking and supportive wife in everything she and Danny did. She was a huge supporter of the Iowa Park Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary until they both retired. Added to the love of her life was her son, Lewis, followed by her newest loves, her four grandchildren. She supported them with all her heart and was constantly following them to show that. The only time she ever missed one of their events was when there were more than one at a time. Frances was a fighter when loved and when passionate about someone, would stand behind them until the end. Through her 13 year battle with cancer, she never quit fighting. She has won the battle and is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. We will always remember her heart and courageous spirit.
