

CHAPIN - A funeral service for Anne Chapman Burriss, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
Ms. Burriss died Thursday, March 17, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of Bernice Metts Chapman Sims and the late Homer Grady Chapman, Jr. A graduate of The University of South Carolina, she worked for the State of South Carolina Archives until she retired. Anne loved antiquing and enjoyed Lake Murray. She was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving are her mother, Bernice Metts Chapman Sims of Columbia, SC; nephew, Jason Sheppard (Kathleen) and their son, Eric Sheppard, all of Belton, SC; two stepbrothers, George Sims and David Sims; two stepsisters, Susan Roden and Beth Selander; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and beloved dog, Minnie.
In addition her father, she was predeceased by her brother, Homer Grady Chapman III, her stepfather, J. Lee Sims, and great niece, Madeline Sheppard.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
