

A memorial service for Bobby Gene Lockaby, 79, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork, Irmo, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.
Mr. Lockaby died Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John Heyward and Lola Barbrey Lockaby. He attended Greenville County Schools and graduated from Balboa High School in Balboa, Canal Zone. After serving 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, he worked in the finance department of the United States Postal Service. Mr. Lockaby was a 32nd Degree Past Master, Past Grand Junior Deacon and a member of Boyleston Lodge #123, Scottish Rite, Jamil Shrine Center and American Legion. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson and volunteered for USO at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Lockaby of Irmo; sons, John Lockaby (Rocky Cox) of Orange Park, FL and Ron Lockaby of Leesville; stepsons, Tim Shealy, Jr. (Kristy) and Randy Shealy, all of Chapin; stepdaughter, Angela Shealy of Irmo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Lockaby (Sylvia) of Simpsonville, Don Lockaby (Brenda) of Kansas and James Lockaby (Joyce) of Dahlonega, GA; and sister, Joanie Duke of Turtletown, TN. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Tranna Starnes.
