Bruce Martin Simon Sr.

Bruce Simon went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Foize and Ruby Hutto Simon. He was a graduate of A.C. Flora High School and worked and retired as an insurance assessment adviser for Insurance Services Office in Columbia.

Bruce was a faithful member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He loved all Gamecock sports and enjoyed making friends with fans, players, and coaches as he attended games. His love for the Gamecocks was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He enjoyed giving and encouraging those in need.

Bruce is survived by his children, Paula Simon Otto, Bruce M. "Marti" (Kim) Simon, Jr., and Brian Christopher (Elaine) Simon; his grandchildren, Trey, Warner, and Evan Otto, Luke, Ava, Eli, and Cam Simon; his brothers, Nick (Susan) and Carroll Simon; his brother-in-law, Aubrey (Miriam) Johnson; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and Railbirds. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine Johnson Simon.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the professionals and staff at Colonial Gardens, All Seasons Hospice Care, and Generations of Irmo for their extraordinary love and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd.
